"In life, nothing happens for nothing." That's what my friend Maggy told me this afternoon, when I spoke to her on the phone. I hadn't heard from her for a week, other than knowing that she had had a serious accident and was hospitalized.

Passionate about cycling for years, Maggy regularly went out on bike rides to free her mind, with her peloton. But last Wednesday, 6 km from the finish line, a moment of inattention cost her dearly and Maggy's bike hit a pothole (a very big pothole) at more than 30 km per hour. Maggy was catapulted into the void.
Result: shattered pelvis, broken collarbone, head trauma… And at least 4 weeks in hospital, lying permanently in the dark.

So what was the gesture that saved Maggy's life? It was the purchase of a helmet last fall—a bit out of the blue. A spontaneous purchase, made while buying new cycling shoes before the end of the season. The young girl at the store had extolled the merits of the helmet, explaining that it was equipped with a new technology (WaveCel) that offered increased protection against head trauma. And the young girl was so passionate and bubbly that Maggy bought it without hesitation. Well, it's this deformable cellular structure that lines the inside of the helmet that allowed me to talk to Maggy today. Thank you, life!
When we spoke this afternoon, Maggy asked me to announce the accident to her community. She told me, laughing, "you'll find a way to make this go through with humor!" I don't think I have the right words to tell you about it with a light heart, but one thing is certain, the Maggy I spoke to earlier is still as strong and as determined as ever. Tired after a few minutes of talking with me, she confided in me: "I've done miracles for my daughter, I'm certainly not going to do any less for myself!" And between you and me, it's this strength of character that will save her.
There you have it my friends — if we can't make you laugh with a humorous article about Maggy's accident, you now have all the news. Don't worry, Maggy is well surrounded, her little family watches over her with care and her business to which she is so devoted, continues to run. If we can't install a freezer in her hospital room to store a few cold teddy bears to soothe her pain, we can't do anything for her, except continue to encourage Béké-Bobo and send her lots of positive vibes for a quick recovery and a full recovery!
On that note, I wish you to bite into life and savor the present moment with those you love. Life is more fragile than we think!
