It's already been three months... Three months since Maggy fell off her bike and broke her pelvic bones, her collarbone, and a major concussion. Three months without being in the workshop, with her team and her beloved teddy bears.
We thought you might like to hear some updates on Maggy's condition so far and dream with her about her return home!
The good news first!
Since my last article, Maggy tolerates light much better. She can now dress herself, wash herself and eat with both hands! She can even transfer from bed to wheelchair without help.
Her drowsiness has decreased and, although it is still difficult, she is able to concentrate a little better. This means that she can now also read and even answer a few emails! And she suffers less, thanks to her new long-term medication.
As for the dizziness, Maggy underwent vestibular therapy to overcome it. The problem is not completely resolved when she sits upright or stands, but it still helped. So today she can stay a few hours in her rolling base with a moderate inclination.
Finally, we can rejoice in knowing that she recently managed to walk 10 meters with a walker, without putting too much weight on her right leg!
Next steps to take before going home
Maggy is looking forward to these steps! In addition to waiting for the bones in her pelvis to heal, here is what she must accomplish to be able to go home:
- Being able to sit up straight on a chair or the edge of the bed
- Taking a shower alone
- Strengthen your arms and legs
- Increase your resistance to stuns
- Improve your reading fluency
- To walk
- Climb stairs
- Sit in a car
- Achieving better concentration
- Reduce your medication
It's not nothing... But seeing how far we've come in recent months, I think we can be confident that Maggy has the strength and determination to get there this fall!
Let's continue to encourage him and support his great business, together 🙂
